Reminder: transition period for Financial Advisor title has ended

Update for the Financial Advisor title:

The transition period for using the Financial Advisor (or similar) title in Ontario ended on March 28, 2024.

Now, an individual who wants to use the Financial Advisor (or similar) title in Ontario must have an approved credential from a FSRA-approved credentialing body.

If an individual is using the Financial Advisor title without an approved credential, FSRA has authority to take appropriate enforcement action against them, as granted under the Financial Professionals Title Protection Act.

Update for the Financial Planner title:

The transition period for using the Financial Planner (or similar) title in Ontario will end on March 28, 2026. The transition period only applies if you were using the Financial Planner title on or before January 1, 2020.
